POLICE have warned the public over a group of people stealing from homes and cars across Bolton.

It follows an incident in which a stolen car was spotted in Little Hulton and chased by traffic officers before being stopped.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested but two passengers made off from the scene and escaped police.

In a post on GMP's Swinton and Little Hulton Facebook page, Sgt Mark Livesy said: "A male was arrested yesterday morning (17/02/2020) in the early hours on Cleggs Lane in Little Hulton.

"The male was in a stolen car from an address on the border of Swinton and Worsley a couple of hours earlier.

"The vehicle made off and was pursued by traffic colleagues. The pursuit started on Walkden Road, headed through Boothstown along the East Lancs Road, into Tyldsley and back to Little Hulton."

Sgt Livesy went on to warn residents about a group of people targetting homes and cars in Bolton for thefts.

He asked anyone with information on the thieves to come forward and speak to police.

"There are a group of individuals living between Little Hulton and Bolton who are committing numerous burglaries and thefts of motor vehicles across our neighbourhoods," he said.

"They have no issue stealing from you, your friends or your families. They have no concern about breaking into your houses, stealing your cars and driving them at speed putting your lives in danger.

"We need as much information as possible to prosecute these individuals.

"Some of you will know who they are and will have information about them."

Anyone who may have information on this group is asked to contact police on 101 or via the Live Chat on www.gmp.police.uk.
