TWO boys have been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a 16-year-old boy allegedly had a knife held to his throat while his iPhone 11 was stolen.

Detectives investigating the robbery of a 16-year-old boy in Thatto Heath Park on Saturday, February 8 have questioned a 15-year-old boy from Manchester and a 16-year-old boy from St Helens in connection with the offence.

Last week the Star reported how the victim, who has only recently turned 16, had got the bus from St Helens town centre to Prescot Road and was walking through the park to meet friends on Thatto Heath Road.

But before he could leave the park he was grabbed by two people on bikes.

The incident happened inside the park on the path near the entrance on Lugsmore Lane, near the library.

His mum claimed he had a knife held to his throat before he handed over his iPhone 11 and a small amount of cash.

The 15-year-old boy from Manchester and a 16-year-old boy from St Helens were arrested and interviewed and have since both been released on conditional bail until Wednesday, February 26.
