FAYE Webber netted twice as Knutsford Hockey Club ladies made it six wins in a row.

The player of the match scored the first and fourth goals of a 5-1 victory against Wilmslow thirds.

But the Knutsford side had to overcome a second-half fightback from the visitors before going on to secure a success that keeps them fourth in Cheshire Women's Hockey League Division Two.

While the execution for the goals was a strong point, Liz Ball and Amanda Rees formed a stunning partnership at the back for the home side and Sarah Fielding and Suzi Weir gave the home side plenty of options from the middle of the pitch.

Olivia Hope put in a brilliant performance on the left and she looked fearless in her challenges.

The game started with Knutsford on the front foot.

It wasn’t long before one of Knutsford’s well-rehearsed short-corners was converted by Webber with Hannah Quinn registering an assist from the left-post.

Towards the end of the first half, Wilmslow created a few chances.

They won a penalty corner which was denied by an unbelievable challenge by Sarah Evans and cleared by Lucie Chadwick.

The second half commenced with Wilmslow holding a lot of possession, resulting in a scrappy goal from the away side.

At 1-1, it was anyone’s game.

Georgia Allen’s stint up front provided attacking players with great options and Weir shook off the Wilmslow defence to score Knutsford’s second from a penalty corner.

Confidence grew with Gill Lunt making one of her signature runs down the right-hand side.

Not being able to handle Lunt’s pace, Wilmslow conceded another penalty corner.

This time it was Sarah Fielding to get the rebound to make it 3-1.

As the game drew to a close, Knutsford’s centre back Susie Hough played a stunning ball up the right wing which was picked up by Webber who ran rings around the Wilmslow back-four to slot in Knutsford’s fourth.

In the dying moments Katie Price smashed the ball into the bottom left corner to complete the scoring.
