BARNTON Community and Nursery and Primary School is celebrating after receiving its first Ofsted inspection since becoming an academy in 2017.
Inspectors confirmed it is still a 'good' school as part of their first visit and said there is enough evidence of improved performance to be judged 'outstanding' if they were to carry out a full inspection now.
Inspectors said: "Pupils clearly enjoy their time at Barnton Primary. They are happy and feel p roud to be part of the school.
"Pupils have excellent relations with adults. Staff are kind and approachable.
"Leaders have created a culture where staff share high expectations for all pupils.
"Reading is at the heart of the school's curriculum. The basics for writing are taught extremely well in year years.
|"Pupils focus on their learning well. Their conduct and behaviour are impeccable."

Headteacher Alison Lawson said: 'We are delighted with our report. Our mission at Barnton is to be a school of opportunity where we inspire our children to believe in their own abilities and achieve their very best.
"The inspector recognised this and commented how our curriculum provides meaningful experiences and sets high expectations.
"We would not be able to offer the quality of education we do without the constant hard work and support from our amazing children, parents, staff and community.
"We are continually working to improve the quality of education for our children and we are committed to ensuring our school continues to be a happy, secure environment, where our children are educated to the very highest standard."

Barnton is part of Weaver Trust which works tirelessly to improve outcomes for all children.
Annette Williams, trust chief executive officer, said: "I am so proud of our amazing team at Barnton and the quality of education that is offered which is exceptional.
"Our curriculum design, in Weaver Trust, is engaging and ensures that our children develop a strong understanding of concepts and themes, as well as developing into competent readers and writers.
"We were delighted to welcome Ofsted to Barnton, to see the quality of teaching which takes place every day."
