ANGLERS are helping a young biker left paralysed after a crash in Northwich continue his passion for fishing.

Adam Noden, from Middlewich, suffered life changing injuries days before his 24th birthday.

The accident in Lach Dennis last March left him paralysed from the chest down.

Daves of Middlewich, where he worked until two months before the collision, is organising a giant raffle with incredible prizes.

Famous champion anglers are offering a day's coaching and companies have donated thousands of pound worth of equipment.

Staff at the angling superstore hope to raise £7,000 for a lightweight all terrain wheelchair so Adam can fish independently.

Just 24 hours after launching their GoFundMe campaign, more than £1,500 was raised.

Shop manager Darren Clarke, 31, and Adam's best friend, said: "It's a brilliant response, we were amazed. We stood at the front of the shop with Adam and it all got a bit emotional. We are like a family here.

"Adam is a lovely lad, just a gentle giant. We'd love to get the full amount for him to get the wheelchair, standing frame and everything else he needs to carry on."

After 10 months in hospital, Adam has impressed everyone with his positive attitude as he adjusts to cope with his disability.

Managing director Ann Marie Costello, whose dad Dave founded the business 42 years ago, said: "Adam is a fantastic young man who loves fishing. It has been his passion since he was a young kid.

"After months in rehab he now lives independently and is getting out fishing whenever he can with the help of his many friends.

"We are hoping to buy Adam an all terrain wheelchair so that he can have more access to the waters he yearns to get back on to and maybe other stuff to help make his life a little easier."

Two draws are available with prizes for carp and coarse anglers.

Darren added: "Most people I know love fishing. None of us could live without it. This is just a case of rallying together to help a fellow angler get out fishing again."

The raffle will be drawn on Friday, April 3.
