THE evolution of a sports store on Witton Street has led to it opening a brand-new wellbeing centre on its upper floor.

The Turner family set up their Rosebank Sports shop at the top end of Witton Street over 40 years ago.

But like many high street businesses across the country, it has suffered during what is a challenging time for retail.

However, it is now hoped that the new facility will help people to build a healthy mind as well as a healthy body through a number of treatments led by fully qualified therapists.

“Due to the recent troubles that retailing on the high street has thrown up, we decided to make a radical change to our business model,” said owner Tony Turner.

“This saw us become more specialist in the sports of running, tennis and fitness and strip out football, rugby and cricket.

“The decision allowed us to utilise the building more efficiently by creating space on our first floor, which we thought could work well as a wellbeing centre.

“Wellbeing services are not very well covered in Northwich town centre, and we thought that we could offer something a little bit different.”

Tony continued: “We now have a range of independent therapist and counsellors including Relate Counselling Service that are operating from here.

“We previously focused on helping people to achieve a healthy body, but now we can help people to achieve a healthy mind as well, which is equally important.

“We feel that there is definitely a demand for a business like ours, as there are not many places where you can get sports supplies and wellbeing services in one place

“The change already feels positive, as we’ve had lots of councillors and independent wellness experts enquiring about using our rooms.”

The Rosebank wellbeing centre will be hosting an open day on Saturday between 10am and 3.30pm, allowing people to meet with therapists, sample treatments and gain advice.

Treatments on offer include relationship counselling, hypnotherapy, reiki, physiotherapy, acupuncture and reflexology.
