A SMOKE alarm ringing at a house in Middlewich prompted neighbours to summon help.
Firefighters discovered that no-one was inside the property on Queens Drive when they arrived shortly before 5pm last night.
Crews gained entry and found the alarm had been activated as a result of a water leak affecting the electrics in a kitchen light fitting.
Firefighters isolated the water and electricity supply to the house and removed the light fitting and were at the scene for around 20 minutes.
