PUPILS from The Grange School were triumphant at the English Indoor Rowing Championships at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester at the weekend, coming home with five medals.

Eamonn Timmons-Williams returned with a fantastic gold medal in the J13 boys event, beating his personal best by over 100m.

In the same event, Rahim Siqqiqi was just squeezed out of a medal place, coming fourth only one metre behind the bronze medallist against 33 other competitors.

For the J14 boys, George Akka’s brilliant performance ended with a bronze medal in a field of 46 competitors.

And it was a superb silver meal for Will Scawn in the J12 boys event too.

In the team relay events, the J12 team of Alice Povey, Will Evans, Will Scawn and Jessica Chaloner were bronze medallists.

And it was a nail-biting finish for the J14 boys team of Luke Povey, Dom Webster, George Akka and Rahim Siqqiqi who took the silver medal by just five hundredths of a second.
