MARBURY Country Park is already famous because of one lady, but now there’s another putting the Northwich beauty spot in the frame.

Under the alias of The Marbury Lady, Alison Hamlin Hughes has built a burgeoning photography business capturing stunning shots of the country park.

And what’s remarkable is they’ve all been shot on her iPhone.

Northwich Guardian:

The 57-year-old from Higher Marston said: “I’ve always had an interest in photography, but this was very much a hobby that has turned into a wonderful opportunity.

“One of my passions is to go out walking in nature, I love the feel of a new day beginning and I like to try and capture this.”

Part of Alison’s skill is capturing the park’s trees in natural light.

She said: “Some people just see ‘a tree’, I see an incredibly beautiful landscape.”

Northwich Guardian:

Having lived in the area since her early 20s, Alison knows the park’s eerie history which inspired her business name.

She said: “I’m in no way trying to impersonate the real Marbury Lady, it’s just where I spend lots of time – most of my photos are taken in Marbury Park.

“I used to have a local bead shop, and people called me ‘the bead lady’, so I thought The Marbury Lady is quite a fitting name.”

Alison says using her mobile allows her to be part of the moment and her advice to other aspiring photographers is to just get out and look at what’s around them.

She said: “There’s a real simplicity to having a camera in my pocket all of the time rather than carting around a lot of camera kit. It means that I can take my picture and then enjoy being present in the moment.

Northwich Guardian:

“Many people miss out on how beautiful things can be. Sometimes because they’re not able to get to these nice places, or they may be too focused on not having time, it’s too early in the morning. Or it might just be because they are too busy worrying about the thorns that they don’t see how wonderful the roses are.”

She added: “The more you can learn about photography, the better you will become, but sometimes it’s just about getting out there just shooting what you see.”

Having been given her first exhibition break at Abda’s Café, Alison is now a regular trader at Northwich Artisan Market and can be found opposite Holland and Barrett on the second Saturday of each month where she sells large scale canvases, framed prints and greeting cards of her work.

She’s also due to hold phone photography place that inspires her with dates lined up at Marbury Country Park on February 22 and 23, March 28 and 29, April 25 and 26, and May 23 and 24, and will be running phone photography walks through the year to show people how to tune into nature with their camera phones.
