A WOMAN suffered minor injuries during an assault that took place in a town centre nightclub.

Police received reports on Sunday afternoon that an altercation had taken place in Retros Music Bar in the early hours of the same morning.

The woman was treated for 'minor' injuries at Victoria Infirmary Northwich.

A friend of the woman told the Guardian: “When her brother tried to stop him, he too was attacked by others.

“I think this is frightening and scandalous when people are afraid to go out.

“The police are involved and cameras have been looked at, so hopefully justice will be done.”

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At 12.30pm on Sunday, January 19, officers were notified of an assault at a nightclub on High Street, Northwich.

“The caller, a 39-year-old-woman, reported that she had been assaulted by a group of men at around 00.30am earlier the same day.

“The woman sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident and had attended Northwich Infirmary.

“Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 616013.”

A spokesperson for Retros added: "Those who have done wrong will be barred from the premises.

"Retros has a zero tolerance policy for violence."
