A WITTON Street business received an early Christmas present when it was voted as having the best festive bauble during a town centre competition.

Gwen’s Bridal received the most votes from the public after entering Northwich’s bauble trail competition, which took place during the Christmas Extravaganza.

Those taking part in the trail were asked to choose which design they thought was the best out of the 13 businesses involved, with competition fierce.

Northwich Art Shop, Club Class 24-7 Taxi, Pretty Princess Cakes and Bakes, Store 101, Board Beans Café, Crafty Stitches, Bella Boutique, Abda’s Café, White Ribbon Boutique, Kanya Café, Wright Marshall and Vinnie’s Cakes and Shakes all took part, however it was Gwen’s Bridal that came out on top.

And the winners were presented with a bottle of champagne by Northwich BID for their success in the competition.

Northwich Guardian:

“For the design, we thought that it needed to be in keeping with the shop - that being bridal and seamstress like,” said business owner Gwen Jackson.

“We created the bauble with bridal fabrics and we wanted it to be angel-like with a tutu, but in particular the children were in our thoughts, so we wanted them to like it and even find her funny.

“It was a most enjoyable day. We had lots of fun and even got the children making wishes in front of the bauble with their eyes closed.”

As the name suggests, Gwen’s Bridal supplies wedding, bridesmaid and mother of the bride dresses as well as stocking a range of evening dresses and rainbow club shoes.

Customers can also get their hands on outfits for christenings flower girls, communion and page boys.
