THE Northwich Vale Royal Rotary Club has thanked the people of Northwich and surrounding villages for their goodwill and generosity.

Andrew Green from the club said: “Their donations helped to raise a total of £7,200 for local charities.

“As well as children’s charities, RCNVR have already given £3,000 to families in need through Mid Cheshire Foodbank and £1,000 to the Salvation Army who provided Christmas meals for the homeless.

“It will also be used to help fund the Pensioners’ Party which is an annual event taking place in February.

“The Rotary Club also thanks Corkills Northwich for the loan of the tow vehicle to pull Santa and his sleigh during the Christmas period.

“Thanks also to Barons Quay management team, Northwich Town Council and the Northwich Guardian for their input. Finally, a big thank you to all volunteers for their support whether in the town centre or on the streets doing their bit for local charities whatever the weather.

“Volunteers worked on 16.5 nights, a total of 262 working slots, which means they spent a total of 786 hours on their feet covering around 2,143 miles between them, plus an awful lot of other preparation meetings etc that is not counted.”
