DESPITE having eight players missing and trailing at half time, Warrington RUFC’s under 16s produced a stunning second-half display to see off Chester.
With much of their team being picked for county representation, Warrington were 12-10 behind at the break but kept their visitors off the scoresheet after the interval to record a 36-12 win.
Christian Johnston scored twice in the second half, with further tries from Sam Whalley and Jude Lightfoot securing the victory.
Sam Marshall kicked three conversions for Warrington and Isaac Johnson came up with a crucial, try-saving tackle at the other end.
Henry O’Neil and Stephen Antrobus had crossed before the break for Warrington to give them confidence that they could cause problems for the Chester defence despite trailing.
Warrington will have their county players back for their next game, which is at home to Welsh side Cobra on Sunday.
