FIFTEEN new affordable rental homes could be built in place of a derelict Rilshaw Lane bungalow, a planning application suggests.

Adactus Hosing Association – part of Jigsaw housing group which owns 34,000 affordable homes across the north west – has lodged the proposal with Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Having demolished the Tal-y-bont bungalow currently in situ, the development would comprise four one-bedroom apartments and 11 two-bedroom homes, made up of semi-detached and mews.

It is located to the south of Rilshaw Lane itself, near the Clive Lane junction and bordered to the west by the West Coast Mainline.

A planning statement said: “The application provides for a wholly affordable housing scheme within an established residential setting.

“The development will provide a range of one and two-bedroom properties for affordable rent which … are much needed in this part of Winsford.”

Supporting information from Jigsaw Homes suggests the affordable rent would represent 80 per cent of full value – with two parking spaces per home.

A statement said: “Jigsaw Homes are looking to acquire the site on Rilshaw Lane for the development of 15 new, affordable homes.

“The site currently comprises an existing bungalow which is to be demolished. Our proposal is to construct 15 quality homes for affordable rent. The scheme proposals are a response to an identified need for affordable housing in the area and have been developed in consultation between Jigsaw Homes and CWAC.”

A consultation runs on the CWAC planning website until January 15.
