POST Office manager Marsha Johnson is wearing a different festive costume every day in December to raise money for a cause close to her heart.

Marsha, 32, from Northwich, runs Handforth Post Office, and is raising funds for the National Deaf Children’s Society.

She was inspired to support the society by her son Logan, four, who was born with severe one-sided deafness and uses a hearing aid.

The family has been receiving ongoing support from the charity ever since Logan was born.

Marsha’s husband Mike, 35, a senior manufacturing lab technician, is also deaf, and her fundraising effort is already paying off.

Thanks to the generosity of customers, friends and family, she has already raised £145 towards her target of £300.

Anyone wishing to donate can do so in person at Handforth Post Office or via Marsha’s fundraising web page at justgiving.com/fundraising/marsha-johnson1

Marsha said: “My plan is to dress festively throughout December, with something different every day, a bit like an advent calendar. You never know what’s next!

Northwich Guardian:

Marsha with her husband and son

“The National Deaf Children’s Society was the perfect choice for me. To be able to give something back in return for everything they have done for us as a family is my little way of saying thank you.

“Logan is doing well, he’s at pre-school and has a radio aid now ready to start school next September.

“I wanted to support the National Deaf Children’s Society as I’m aware of the challenges deaf children face.

“Without them I wouldn’t have known about the amazing technology which improves my son’s life on a daily basis. For these things I feel forever grateful for the society.”

Claire Lubbock, of the National Deaf Children’s Society’s fundraising team, said: “I want to say a huge thank you to Marsha for a really original and eye-catching fundraising idea and helping us give deaf children like little Logan the best possible start in life.

“Not only has Marsha raised much-needed funds for us, but she’s also helped raise a bit of deaf awareness among her customers.

“It’s because of people like Marsha that we are able to keep on doing what we do, supporting the 50,000 deaf children and their families across the UK, now and into the future.”
