MORE than £50,000 was raised for the Brainwave charity at The Greatest Show Ball at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa.

The black-tie event saw more than 200 people come together for an evening of entertainment and fundraising, sponsored by CPM-UK and hosted by Lord and Lady Fellowes, patrons of Brainwave.

Guests were greeted by a drinks reception and treated to an aerialist performance from Show Lady Debbie Nowell.

After the three-course meal there was a huge fundraising raffle, with prizes including return flights from Manchester to Bali, courtesy of Turkish Airlines, as well as live and silent auctions for jewellery, holidays and event tickets.

After dinner entertainment was provided by Ring Master Phil Reeves before Funtime Frankies took to the stage and guests danced the night away.

The evening proved to be an outstanding success for Brainwave, which is working with more than 400 children across the UK.

Joanne Freeman, Brainwave fundraiser and event organiser, said: “This year’s charity ball proved to be another great night of fun and fundraising.

“It was fantastic to see guests laughing and enjoying themselves, and also how touched people were by hearing about Elsa, a young girl who shows how much children can benefit from the work we do at Brainwave.”

Knutsford Guardian:

Brainwave is a UK national charity that helps children with disabilities to achieve greater independence.

The charity does not receive any Government funding and relies on voluntary donations to run its three permanent centres in Cheshire, Somerset and Essex.

Joanne added: "We are so grateful to everyone who was involved in helping us to raise such an incredible amount.

“We would not be able to continue to support children with disabilities across the country without this generosity.”
