CHRISTMAS trees that have been decorated by local schools, businesses and organisations are to go on display at St Helen’s Church.

This is part of a community Christmas tree festival which will start this weekend.

A total of 35 trees will be on show that have been provided and decorated by local groups in a way that represents them best.

Father Christmas will also be paying a visit to the town and weather permitting, those attending can enjoy trips to the top of the tower to try their hand at bell ringing.

A Christmas raffle will be held and refreshments will be served throughout the event incorporating the church’s monthly coffee pot on Saturday morning.

The festival will be open between 12am and 4pm on Friday and Sunday and from 10am through to 4pm on Saturday.

The weekend will close with a Christmas sing-along on Sunday at 6.30pm, when mince pies and mulled wine will be served.

All events are free, however any donations are gratefully accepted.
