WITH the festive season well and truly underway, a networking group has got into the spirit by giving generously to our Toy Appeal.

Webx (Weymouth Business Exchange) has donated £100 to help underprivileged children this Christmas.

Our Christmas Toy Appeal is particularly special this year as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Webx, a locally based network of business owners formed in 2014, meet every week for breakfast at the Pavilion in Weymouth. The network's primary function is to supply business opportunities to every member, particularly start-up businesses, and also to support local charities.

Malcolm Steevens, chairman of Webx said: "We’ve been supporting the Echo Toy Appeal for the last few years, and as most of our members have children or grandchildren of our own, we know how lovely it is to see the joy in their faces at Christmas when opening presents, especially when receiving toys.

"There are a lot of families and children locally who are not as fortunate and we would like all children to have the same potentially wonderful experience.

"We therefore encourage all other local businesses and business organisations to donate and get involved with this very worthwhile cause."

For 20years, the Toy Appeal has campaigned to make sure every child in Dorset has a present to open on Christmas morning - no matter what their situation.

Webx's appeal donation will be used to buy gifts and vouchers which will be distributed before Christmas to children who would otherwise go without.

Last year’s Toy Appeal saw readers and businesses raise a grand total of £3,428.99 and we need your help again to beat this target.

All it takes is a one-off donation of £100, which will make a big difference to children facing poverty.

Dorset Echo promotions manager Debbie Hellaby said: “Without the support of our readers and businesses we would not be able to help put smiles on all those families’ faces at Christmas, so a big ‘thank you’ in advance for your help.”
