PUPILS at Lostock Gralam CofE Primary School will feel a lot safer this winter thanks to a donation from a homebuilder.

Barratt Homes has given the school 60 hi-visibility vests for the pupils to wear while walking to and from school.

This is a timely safety boost with the winter nights drawing in and will help motorists see pupils when light starts to fade.

The donation coincided with Road Safety Week last week, which and is the UK’s biggest road safety event.

Northwich Guardian:

“We’re very grateful to Barratt Homes for providing a high-vis vest donation for our schoolchildren to wear when walking around the village and the local area, said the school’s headteacher Jo Powell.

“This will help to keep them safe during Road Safety Week and school visits in the future."

Barratt Homes is currently building its new Dane View development two miles away from the school on Shipbrook Road in Rudheath.

Neil Goodwin, managing director at the Manchester-based homebuilder, added: “It makes sense for us to support Road Safety Week as many of our new developments have schools nearby.

“We want to urge pupils to keep safe and seen on the roads, and our donation of hi-visibility vests to the school will help keep the children safe as the nights draw in.”
