The Sun Trevor in Llangollen has been declared the Welsh winner of Rover’s coveted Dog-friendly Pub Awards, after receiving the most votes from the public in the area.

The Dog-friendly Pub Awards, run by Rover.com, the world’s largest network of pet sitters and dog walkers, celebrates pubs with dog-friendly initiatives and encourages pubs across the UK to welcome four legs as well as two.

The Sun Trevor fought off fierce competition this year from over 120 dog-friendly watering holes across Wales, but held on to the top spot after accumulating the most votes.

Locally renowned as a great pit stop after a nice long dog-walk, the pub is hailed for its welcoming approach and dog amenities, including treats, dog beds and quiet areas.

Paul Jones from the The Sun Trevor was delighted with the news, “This award

means the world to us, we are extremely proud to have this honour, voted for by our friends, customers and their four legged families.

“We treat our four legged customers as we do our two legged customers. For dogs we have water plentifully available, treats and beds, and we have our beloved pub dog Poppy

here to welcome everyone. Being able to take your pet to the pub with you is important, your dog is family.”

Just pipped to the post but still highly commended and rated by locals in the regional competition table, the runners up for Wales included:

Simon Le Grice from Rover said, “Wales has a fantastic array of dog-friendly pubs for locals to choose from. It’s been wonderful to see so many of them represented in this year’s awards. The community has really got behind their favourite

pubs and helped us, for the fourth year running, to find the best of the bunch - and with the The Sun Trevor in Llangollen, we’ve found just that in Wales.

“The superb service they demonstrated shows a real consideration for dog welfare and happiness, which we at Rover value above all. The whole Rover pack is proud to congratulate The Sun Trevor in Llangollen on winning the Dog-friendly

Pub Award for Wales and hopes that the awards will inspire dog owners country-wide to discover and support their local pubs, while also encouraging more pubs to consider our two-legged friends in their offerings.”

The Sun Trevor is one of 12 regional finalists in this year’s nationwide Dog-friendly Pub Awards. Chosen from the regional finalists, the national winner, The Fox & Hounds in Theale was selected by a panel of judges from Rover, RSPCA,

The Morning Advertiser, Your Dog Magazine and The Guardian.
