A CRAFT business based in Weaverham is urging people to join its paperless Christmas campaign.

Oh So Pretty and Clever was founded last year by village resident Emma Pickering, and sells a range of homemade gifts and crafts.

But one thing that Emma is trying to end is the huge amount of wrapping paper which is wasted each year during the festive period.

And she is calling on the Northwich community to help her in her quest to minimise the environmental impact of Christmas.

“At Oh So Pretty and Clever, I always try to be as eco-friendly as possible, especially when it comes to packaging,” said Emma.

“Over the Christmas period, more than a quarter of a million miles of wrapping paper will be used and thrown away in just one day.

“This year, we would like to encourage people of all ages to join our paperless Christmas campaign and use a festive blanket to cover your presents instead.”

Northwich Guardian:

As well as protecting the environment, Emma believes that using a blanker rather than paper can make the big day even more special for youngsters.

“To make sure this idea would be well received, I ran the idea of Father Christmas using a festive blanket instead of wrapping paper past my seven-year-old daughter,” she added.

“She loved the idea of having a pile of presents that she could uncover in one swoop and dive in to.

“That was the seal of approval that led me to the launch this campaign.

“I am calling on your support to help to make a difference this Christmas and make the decision to go paperless.”

A page will be set up on the Oh So Pretty and Clever website on December 1 which will allow people to submit their paperless Christmas pictures.

Emma is also urging residents to use #PaperlessChristmas on social media on the big day to show off all of the re-usable festive blankets they will be using instead of wrapping paper.
