TWO of Northwich’s cultural landmarks are to benefit from the support of a major business.

Chemical manufacturer INOVYN has been named as the first corporate partner of Lion Salt Works and Weaver Hall Museum.

This is part of the recently launched Northwich Museums Corporate Partnership scheme, which enables businesses to support cultural landmarks in the area.

The partnership can help museums to care for their collections, develop exhibitions and share the area’s exciting history, including the impact of salt in the region.

Opened in 2015 after a £10 million refurbishment, the Lion Salt Works was voted the UK’s Best Heritage project in the 2016 National Lottery Awards.

It has featured on several TV programmes including Channel 4’s Great Canal Journeys with Timothy West and Prunella Scales and BBC1’s Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.

Housed within the old Northwich Union Workhouse, Weaver Hall Museum promotes the history and industry of West Cheshire.

The museum’s displays relate to local industry, transport, archaeology and the building’s former history as a Victorian workhouse.

“We are grateful to INOVYN for choosing to support the Lion Salt Works and Weaver Hall Museum and their vital work for residents and visitors alike,” said CWAC Director of Place Strategy, Lisa Harris.

“Businesses can play a vital role in supporting communities, developing arts, culture and education programmes.

“Our new Corporate Partnership Scheme will help to safeguard an essential part of west Cheshire’s heritage for current and future generations.

“I would urge other like-minded businesses to get involved by contacting Richard Hall, Development and Fundraising Officer, on 01244 972134.”

Jon Whieldon, Operations Manager at INOVYN’s Northwich-based brine and water operations, added: “As a business, we have worked closely with Lion Salt Works over a number of years and this has developed into a very valuable partnership for both parties.

“We are very keen to work with local community organisations to provide support where we can, so becoming a corporate partner was an obvious choice to reinforce our support.

“We look forward to working with both museums going forward.”
