RESIDENTS and businesses affected by the recent floods have been invited to attend a drop-in session, where they can receive information and advice.

A total of 17 businesses in the town centre were affected by a record rise in the Weaver and Dane rivers, with six suffering significant damage.

The evacuation of 30 houseboat residents was undertaken at Northwich Marina, who were provided accommodation until it was safe for them to return to their properties.

And all of those affected are welcome to attend the drop-in event which will be held at Northwich Memorial Court next Tuesday.

The Environment Agency will lead the session to provide information and advice to residents and businesses.

People are welcome to drop-in at any time.

Here, they will be able to talk to organisations who are directly involved in managing flood risk and responding during flood events.

Those expected to attend are the Environment Agency, United Utilities, Canal and River Trust, police and fire services, The Flood Hub and various teams from Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The Environment Agency will also be taking a lead on all investigations as to the cause of the flooding and will publish a report once this is complete.

No timescale for this report has been stipulated as investigations can vary in size and complexity, however it is understood that the report should be produced as soon as possible and practicable.

The drop-in event will be held at Northwich Memorial Court on Tuesday, November 19 between 2pm and 6.30pm.

Businesses and residents should receive a card through their doors prior to the event from the Environment Agency.
