YOU may have noticed in the past few weeks that the road signs in Northwich are looking a lot cleaner than usual.

This is thanks to Callum Barker and Martin Salisbury, who are driving around the town in their spare time and cleaning filthy signs free of charge.

The pair, who run Barker’s Exterior Cleaning company, are undertaking the feat to give something back to the community after finding gaps in their daily schedule.

And they have been inundated with praise from local residents, with a Facebook post showing their work clocking up over 2,000 likes.

Northwich Guardian:

“We started cleaning dirty signs in the area a couple of weeks ago as we had a bit of spare time and wanted to give something back to the community,” said 28-year-old Callum.

“It is fair to say that we are completely shocked by the reaction we have had on social media, and we never thought it would have gone down quite as well as it did."

A big factor behind their work is to put some pride back into the local community, and there are no plans to stop the cleaning juggernaut any time soon.

Northwich Guardian:

“I love living in Wincham. I moved here from Sale a couple of years ago and would never move out of the village,” Callum added.

“We will definitely carry on cleaning dirty signs in the area and have a few more on our list, including the sign at the end of my street.”

The pair say they have received a number of suggestions from residents about where they should go next and they are doing their best to get to them all.
