TWO former Cheshire MPs are in the running to be named as the Conservative candidate for Eddisbury in next month’s General Election.
Either Ed Timpson, former Crewe and Nantwich MP, and Graham Evans, former Weaver Vale MP, could be named as the Tory candidate for the December 12 poll at a selection meeting tomorrow night.
Simon Eardley, a Cheshire West and Chester councillor, is also in the running to be selected following Antoinette Sandbach’s defection to the Liberal Democrats.
Both Mr Timpson and Mr Evans lost their seats in the 2017 General Election.
The winner, to be selected by Eddisbury Conservative Association members, will take on Ms Sandbach plus Labour candidate Terry Savage, Nicholas Goulding of the Brexit Party and a Green Party candidate who is yet to be confirmed.
