A NUMBER of roads in Arley and Antrobus are to be closed next week while the Cheshire 10k is staged at Arley Hall.

The annual race is officially one of the fastest 10k events in the UK and will see runners traverse a course of roads in and around Arley and Antrobus.

And to protect participants, Cheshire West and Chester Council has announced that five roads in the area will be closed on Saturday, November 9 for the duration of the race between 9.30am and 11am.

Runners will start at Arley Hall and continue to the junction with New Road by using Arley Road, which is one of the routes that will be closed.

Barber’s Lane will also be restricted to traffic as the runners make their way around the course, continuing onto Keepers Lane and Hollins Lane.

Runners will then head along Lodge Lane and back to the start.

Motorists in the area are advised to find alternative routes while the 10k is underway.

A public notice issued by Cheshire West and Chester Council reads: “The order will come into force at 9:30am on Saturday, November 9 and will continue in force for a maximum duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes.

“Pedestrian access to premises situated on or adjacent to the roads will be maintained at all times.

“Nothing in the order shall prevent driving upon the said lengths of road of any vehicle which is being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes.”
