AN historic 2,000-mile, three-wheeled journey has been recreated to raise funds for Polio Eradication.
Clive Steggel, MD of CRS Consultants, joined fellow Bond Mini Car enthusiasts to form a five-car fleet for the journey to Lake Bled in Slovenia.
Marking 60 years since racing driver Claude Tipper drove a Bond Mini Car to Slovenia, the group set off from Cheshire to recreate the ‘Bonds to Bled’ journey across Europe.
Leaving on Sunday, September 15, they returned home on Sunday, October 6.
All donations will be matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on a ratio of 2:1.
The Rotary Club of Northwich is also heavily involved in raising funds and the awareness of this campaign.
On Thursday, October 24, many Northwich landmarks will be lit up in purple to mark the occasion and in support for the greater Purple4Polio theme.
So far, Clive’s trip has raised more than £2,000.
