A DRIVER suffered a fractured finger during a road rage altercation on Chesterway.

The incident happened at approximately 1.15pm on Thursday, August 5 heading away from the Leicester Street roundabout and approaching the junction of Venables Way.

As a 66-year-old man and his 17-year-old son were driving a silver/grey Mercedes, they became involved in an altercation with the driver of a red BMW.

As a result of the incident, the 66-year-old Mercedes driver sustained a fractured finger.

His 17-year-old son also sustained minor injuries.

As part of their investigation, officers are now appealing to trace other witnesses including the driver of a white van which stopped at the scene.

Police Constable Andy Mullin, from Northwich Local Policing Unit, said: “I would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident, enquiries are ongoing and officers have already spoken to a number of people in connection to the incident – including the driver of the BMW.

“As part of my investigation I am now appealing for anyone else who witnessed the incident to get in touch.

“This incident occurred while the traffic lights were on red – so we know that there were a number of other motorists present at the time.

“I’m particularly keen to speak to a man who was driving a white van and intervened in the incident.

“The same goes for anyone who was driving past and believes they may have any dashcam footage of the incident.
