POINTS machine Michelle Davis hails the team spirit that has contributed to Warrington Wolves Women winning a place in Super League next year.

The flying winger scored a try and landed six conversions when The Wire overhauled Barrow 40-4 in Saturday’s Championship Final at Manchester Regional Arena.

“You play all year for days like this,” said Davis, a solicitor with FDR Law in Palmyra Square South.

“The team really backed each other.

“There was a massive buzz in the changing room afterwards but there was before we kicked off because we know we’d worked hard and we deserved to be in the final.”

Davis, a member of the England Women’s Performance Squad, joined Wolves last spring from Wigan, with whom she won the 2018 Super League Grand Final.

“I can’t actually put into words the kind of camaraderie and spirit that’s in this team,” said Davis, who marked her arrival in the team with a four-try debut at Oulton Raidettes in May.

“With the numbers that we get at training, and then when girls that don’t get picked but still back their mates, it’s phenomenal.

“The whole environment is perfect. Everybody just gets behind everybody.

“There is no one individual, and while we do have people who lead the way, we’ve got the other people working hard in the background and pushing us on and it’s key for us to play like that.

“We all get behind each other whatever happens.”
