A POPULAR shop in the town centre has announced that it plans to close in the near future.

Macouti, which opened on Witton Street in 1994, revealed its decision to cease trading on social media.

The independent retailer sells handmade goods from around the world, such as furniture, jewellery, handbags and giftware, all of which are Fairtrade and ethical.

But it is now set to close its doors for good as its owners look towards the future and new family adventures.

A social media post from retailer said: “Macouti has been part of Northwich for 25 years, but now it is time for us to say goodbye as we look forward to new family adventures.

“Macouti will soon be closing and we would like to thank all our customers past and present.

“It’s been an honour to serve you. Love and peace.”

The announcement has been met with shock and sadness by its customers, who have faithfully shopped there over the years.

One said: “The purchases I have had from the beginning and right to the end have all been beautiful and special. Wishing you all the very best for the future.”

Another added: “I will miss this little gem as staff were always lovely and interested in helping you find the perfect little something. I wish you well.”

Macouti’s decision comes shortly after the shock closures of both Stateside Bar and Kitchen and Noodle Nana in Northwich town centre.
