A PARK in Wilderspool has reopened after a £120,000 refurbishment.

Causeway Park, off River Road and Burgess Avenue, has enjoyed a complete replacement of its play equipment.

Given a farm theme, a range of outdoor gym equipment has also been installed.

Warrington Guardian:

The park, for kids aged between two and eight, has been transformed into a ‘modern, exciting play zone, with new, inclusive equipment’ to ensure access for disabled children.

Cllr Tony Higgins, Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet member for leisure and community, said: “It’s great news that this project, part of our ongoing work to improve play areas across Warrington, is now complete.

“The improved Causeway Park play area will bring huge benefits to the community, providing high quality, inclusive play facilities and encouraging children to get fit and active.

“I look forward to it bringing a great deal of happiness to local families for many years to come.”

A £50,000 grant was donated by the FCC Communities Foundation, with the council contributing a further £70,000 towards the project.

Work to improve the play area has been ongoing over the past 10 weeks.

Warrington Guardian:

Richard Smith, grant manager at the FCC Communities Foundation, said: “It is great to see a scheme we have funded reach completion.

“I visited the project earlier this week, it looks superb and I am sure it will be well used by the community for many years to come.”
