A NURSERY in Davenham was evacuated yesterday after a fire involving a tumble dryer.
At about 5.40pm firefighters were called to a report of a smell of smoke at a nursery in Regency Way.
On arrival a smoke alarm was sounding and a fire was discovered in a laundry room at the nursery.
The nursery was evacuated and the electricity supply to the laundry room was isolated.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire involving a tumble dryer with a hose reel jet.
The tumble dryer was then moved outside of the building, and a large fan was used to clear smoke from the nursery.
The fire is believed to have been caused by an overheated drum.
