ST Helen Witton Church is to host two events simultaneously on Saturday, November 2.

The first is a cake, car boot and craft event in support of the church’s chosen charity of the month, Under the Mango Tree.

Visitors can expect to indulge in some sweet delights while sampling the crafty wares and book sale as well as trying their luck at a traditional family favourite, tombola with all proceeds going to educating children in rural Kenya.

Northwich based Under the Mango Tree focuses on tackling poverty in rural areas of Kenya through educational programmes. As a result of the charity’s support, Timboni School in Kenya is currently providing over 300 children aged four to sixteen with access to an education and providing two meals during the school day.

If this wasn’t enough then visitors can also enjoy a poetry exhibition showcasing the creative talents of local poets that will be running concurrent to the charity event.

Produced as part of an initiative between St Helen’s, Mid-Cheshire Poetry Stanza and Cheshire Poets the works reflect on the heritage of the medieval church and promise to provide local creative insights.

On the following Saturday St Helen’s will be holding a night of music as they play host to the 60 voices of Weaver Valley Womens Institute choir. As part of the songful evening a raffle will be held with proceeds going to Under the Mango Tree.

The event on November 2 is free and will run 10am to 1pm. Tickets for the concert are available online here, starting at 7pm on November 9.
