A TEAM of six Northwich drivers have raised thousands for a brain tumour research charity after finishing what they say was an ‘amazing’ rally experience.

Driving a funky Ford and a jazzed-up Jeep painted in the colours of The Brain Tumour Charity, the team were among 80 cars travelling almost 1,300 miles across Europe as part of the Screwball Rally.

Among the team was brain tumour survivor Nathan Blundell, who wanted to do something to support a charity so close to his heart.

And through his and the other drivers’ efforts, they were able to raise over £2,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity.

“The rally was an absolutely amazing experience and everyone had a fantastic time,” said Nathan.

“We visited countries that most of us had never been to before and we got to do things like stand on the beaches of Dunkirk and explore Geneva.

“The Brain Tumour Charity means a lot to me as I come into my sixth year since being diagnosed, so to have raised so much for them is brilliant.”

The challenge saw the team travel from Northwich through Dover, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg and back in an epic adventure across Europe

And despite the cars costing as little as £80, far short of the £750 Screwball Rally limit, they could use them again when they take part next year.

“We had such as good time and we will 110 percent be doing it again next year,” Nathan added.

“Going into it this year, we didn’t really know what to expect, but we know how fantastic it will be next time around.

“We have already started looking into next year’s rally and have started to make some plans because we are really looking forward to getting behind the wheel again.”
