Altrincham Little Theatre's new season has opened with a beautifully observed, gentle comedy about life, love and second chances.

A Fine Bright Day Today by Philip Goulding, with original music from Alan Edward Williams, is guaranteed to bring you sunshine all week.

Margaret Harvey has been set in her ways for 30 years, living in the same cottage in a small seaside town since the death of her trawlerman husband. But her world is suddenly knocked out of kilter as her daughter Rebecca decides it's time to flee the nest, leaving the usually even-keeled Margaret all at sea.

And into these turbulent waters of domestic upheaval and inner turmoil sails an aspiring American artist, Milton Farnsworth. He too is adrift in the world, but England's rugged coast draws him in with its promise of beautiful seascapes.

Will Margaret and Milton's chance meeting put a new wind in their sails? Follow them on their journey in this warmly observed modern tale, and let the talented cast and crew bring a smile to your heart.
