DAVENHAM Ramblers are to stride out around Disley on a sponsored walk in aid of St Luke’s Hospice.

The rearranged walk takes place on Sunday, October 20.

Before that, Sunday, October 13 sees a 7.5-mile walk at Walk Mill, Waverton and Hargrave, led by Paul Everatt.

This is a virtually flat circular walk along quiet country lanes, fields and the canal and avoiding main roads but passing through the villages of Waverton and Hargrave.

Members should bring a drink and a packed lunch, but the walk will start and end at the Walk Mill where there is a cafe and toilets and where ground flour and bread is also sold.

Meet at Walk Mill (off Guy Lane) Waverton, CH3 7BF at 10.30am where there is parking at the far end of the large car park.

The October 20 walk will be led by Denise Davies.

The main walk will be a 7.5-mile circular route around Disley and will be quite challenging with fantastic views.

The shorter walk will be more leisurely and will follow some of the Gritstone Trail and tracks around the reservoirs and woods of Lyme Park for a distance of less than five miles.

For more information about the longer walk contact Denise Davies or contact Jean Pritchett for information about the shorter walk.

Walkers should bring a drink and a packed lunch. Sponsor forms are available from Denise Davies.

Both walks will start from Disley Railway Station (free parking) at 10.30am.
