A NUMBER of road closures are to be in place this weekend as the highly anticipated Now Northwich festival comes to town.

The free to attend parade returns to the town centre on Saturday, where families will be treated to an afternoon and evening of expressive fun.

From 1pm until late, Now Northwich will see acts perform from Witton Street to Weaver Way and Barons Quay, including dancers, acrobats, drummers and giant insect puppets.

Cheshire West and Chester Council have announced that Crum Hill, Sheath Street and the top half of Meadow Street will be closed from 12pm to 9pm.

Weaver Way and Barons Quay Road will also be closed for motorists to allow pedestrians to enjoy the parade, which will proceed down Northwich High Street.

Vehicular access will only be afforded to emergency services.

All road closures are expected to remain in force until 9pm, when they will reopen.

More than 26,000 people descended on the streets for last year’s parade and drivers are being told to expect delays in the area as similar, if not bigger, numbers are expected again this year.
