NORTHWICH Town Council has appointed two new councillors to serve its Leftwich ward.

The decision to co-opt Catherine Fox and Amy Lockett was made during a town council meeting on earlier this month.

Both new councillors were the only Northwich residents to express an interest in the vacancies when publicised by Northwich Town Council.

And the pair say they are excited by the opportunities presented and cannot wait to get started.

Amy Lockett, who is also the event director for Northwich parkrun, said: “I am thrilled and excited to be co-opted into Northwich Town Council.

“I have got to know quite a few of the councillors through Northwich parkrun and to now be able to put forward my opinion and help in the town is a great opportunity for which I am extremely grateful.

“The passing of Councillor Terry Murphy recently is a huge loss to Northwich so I hope I can bring a little to keeping his memory alive and do him proud.”

Catherine Fox, regeneration manager for Northwich town centre, added: “I am really proud to have been co-opted onto the town council and cannot wait to get started.

“My family has lived in Northwich for over 120 years, so the town is a place that I am very passionate about.

“I hope to do my best to serve the people of Northwich.”
