An elderly man fell into the canal in Ellesmere over the weekend.
Emergency services were called to the canal towpath near Tesco on New Wharf Road on Saturday after the man is believed to have fallen from a narrowboat into the water, before being pulled out by bystanders.
Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the incident, as well as West Mercia Police and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We had the call reporting an elderly gentleman who had been found in the canal and had been pulled out by bystanders.
"We had three calls about it and we sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer.
"When crews arrived on scene, the police were already there.
"The police had started CPR and our crews took over and provided advanced life support which got the man breathing again.
"He was then sent by blue lights to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital."
The man's condition is not known.
