TWO men who were given big discounts on their cannabis purchases by agreeing to supply drugs on the street have avoided jail.

Remus Tudor, 33 and Ionut Tulei, 26 appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday after being caught selling cannabis in Latchford.

Tulei has been using cannabis for around five years and was offered a 75 per cent discount on the drugs if he started dealing it on the streets.

Tudor admitted using the drug for around 10 years and was also offered a large discount for working as a supplier.

Nadeen Nemat prosecuting, said: "Police spotted the men standing at a car window on Grammar School Road in Latchford and approached the pair.

"They were arrested at the scene and Tulei was found with £60 cash.

"Officers then searched the defendants' address on Thelwall Lane and found ten small bags of cannabis, a grinder and £350 in cash.

"Tulei told police that the cash was his wages."

Jemma Gordon, defending Ionus Tulei, told the court that her client had stopped using cannabis.

Remus Tudor was unrepresented in court.

Judge Patrick Thompson, said: "You both came to this country from Romania and started dealing drugs – that is not attractive.

"You are hard workers but both developed an addiction for cannabis.

"You need to understand it is illegal for a reason.

"People who think it causes no harm need to come to this court and see what it does to people. They work for their hit and become paranoid then psychotic – that is why it is illegal.

"You both need to change your lifestyles."
