A SPECIAL celebration has been held to mark the 100th birthday of Weaverham resident Ida Lynch.
Family and friends joined residents for a party at Gleavewood Residential Care Home on Farm Road.

Ida was thrilled to receive a congratulations card from the Queen on becoming a centenarian.

"Ida is still a very independent lady who enjoys socialising with friends," said a spokesman for the home.
Liverpool born Ida used to work for electronics firm Plessey when she was younger.

After getting married to Michael in June 1946, the couple moved to Cheshire.

The pair spent 50 happy years together until he sadly died.
