A WINNINGTON Village housebuilder is making waves in Northwich with a £1,010 donation to help fund an annual swimming gala.

Barratt Homes – which is building at Imperial Park in Rosemary Drive – made the donation to Northwich Centurions, who train at Northwich Memorial Court in Chesterway.

The donation comes as part of Barratt Legacy, a community scheme operating within the communities it builds in.

The funds mean the group will now be able to host the gala and hire the swimming pool for the competition over the course of two weekends.

Northwich Guardian:

Simon Beckman, communications officer at Northwich Centurions, said: “We are delighted to have been successful with our application to the Barratt Legacy scheme and receive this generous donation from the developer.

“Our club is a friendly and welcoming group that prides itself on encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle for its members, whilst allowing children to work competitively and as a team.

“We’d like to thank Barratt Homes for their kind donation and for helping us to achieve our goals as a sports club to continue our ongoing success.”

The club teaches members to swim while also providing an opportunity for friendly team and individual competition.

Michaela Lancaster, sales director at Barratt Manchester, said: “It’s always a privilege to help community organisations and charities wherever we can as well as provide positive contributions to the surrounding areas of our developments.

“We are incredibly pleased to have supported Northwich Centurions in hosting their annual swimming gala and wish them every success in future competitions and events.”
