TEAM Founds got themselves on to the podium again at the weekend to clinch the British F2 Sidecar Championship.

Knutsford rider Pete Founds and company headed south to Wiltshire to the circuit of Castle Combe with a healthy lead.

Conditions were mixed and some of the sessions had rain, but when it was time for qualifying the circuit was dry.

Founds and his stand-in passenger Jake Lowther secured second on the grid for race one, but after a great battle in the early laps with one of his championship contenders, the Knutsford man managed to get past and take the win, breaking the lap record he broke last year.

Race two saw a reverse grid formation for the top six and this put the No 72 outfit on the third row in sixth.

He got a good start and passed a few bikes and was soon at the front battling with the Suzuki of Lee Crawford and Scott Hardie.

With nothing between them Founds began to turn the screw but then Crawford’s chain came off which left Team Founds to take a comfortable win by nearly 10 seconds.
