ALDERLEY Edge School for Girls is celebrating outstanding GCSE results.

Almost 30 per cent of all grades awarded were at the highest 9 or 8 grades, more than seven percentage points up on last year.

The highest grades of 9, 8 or 7, equivalent to former A*/A grades, were achieved by 94 per cent of all pupils taking chemistry, 88 per cent in history, 75 per cent in computing and 83 per cent in physical education.

13 per cent of pupils achieved the equivalent of A*/A grades across the board, and the school is celebrating some exceptional individual performances including Lara Coulter, who achieved a eight grade 9s with a grade A^ (higher than an A*) in Further Mathematics whilst her twin Ella achieved 10 GCSEs at the equivalent A*/A grades.

Gracie O’Donnell and Alara Cooper, from Alderley Edge, achieved five grade 9s and Amy Myers, also from Alderley Edge, was awarded nine GCSEs at the highest 9/8 grades.
