A NEW travel agency has opened its doors in Northwich town centre, creating seven jobs.

Hays Travel, which is now open for business on Witton Street, invited Northwich Town Mayor Kevin Rimmer down to cut the ribbon.

Around £100,000 has been spent to transform the former shoe shop to its new store, which will also include a Bureau de Change.

And Cllr Rimmer said he was delighted to see such a reputable brand open its doors in the town centre.

“It has been a great honour to officially open the new Hays Travel store in Northwich and the team here have been very welcoming,” he said.

“The extremely smart and professional look of the new store shows the investment which Hays Travel has made in our community, and I think it is an excellent addition to the town centre.

“Hays Travel will be booking some fantastic holidays for the people of Northwich thanks to their specialist advice and I wish the team all the very best for the future.”

The Northwich branch will be managed by Cuddington resident Rebekah Gate, who is looking forward to arranging holidays for people in the town.

“I am thrilled to be leading the team here in Northwich, which is obviously a town very close to my heart,” added the 29-year old mother of one.

“It has been lovely to welcome the Mayor to our new store and I am looking forward to welcoming our customers and booking their holidays for them.

“We have been very busy booking holidays since opening, which is very encouraging, and so many people have come in to wish us well.”

Hays Travel North West started with a single travel agency in Mold in 2000 and have since expanded to 38 branches across the region.

In the last six months, it has opened other new branches in Didsbury, Rochdale, Runcorn, Macclesfield and Ashton-under-Lyne.
