FRIENDS of teenager Nell Jones are organising events to raise money for the Remembering Nell Foundation.

Nell, from Goostrey, was a student at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, and was killed in the bomb attack at the Manchester Arena in 2017.

Nel’s friends are hosting events as part of their National Citizen Service, and are inviting people to come along to support them.

They events are also supporting Papyrus, a charity for the prevention of young suicide.

The events start with a coffee morning at Elworth Methodist Church Hall on Friday, August 23 from 9am to noon.

In addition Nell’s friends will have a stall at Cranage Beer Festival on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25, from 2pm to 6pm. They will be selling cakes and Remembering Nell merchandise.

They are also running a stall at Sandbach market on Thursday, August 29, where they'll be selling handmade scrunchies and Remembering Nell merchandise.

In addition they are doing a sponsored bike ride, where they will be cycling the distance from London to Paris and back again.

A group spokesman said: “Members of our team have been personally impacted by the Manchester attack in 2017 in which a classmate, Nell Jones, was killed and another severely injured.

“We've decided to support the Remembering Nell Foundation to not only show solidarity for our classmates, but to join the movement against terrorism and hate within Manchester and to highlight the positivity that has grown from such a tragic experience.

“Papyrus, our second charity, focuses on breaking down the stigma around suicide and working to prevent it.

“We have chosen this charity because several of our teammates lost a friend to suicide in 2017. We wanted to support the organisation because they work locally in supporting family and friends that have experienced the same tragedy and help to prevent it from happening to anyone else.

“For one of our events we'll be cycling the distance from London to Paris and back again between the 15 of us. That's 39 miles each.

“Any money would be greatly appreciated, and you'll be supporting amazing causes. Thank you for helping us with our charity fundraising.”
