A MOULTON church is accepting donations for a family who suffered a fire at their home earlier today.

An adult and two children were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, and the family are currently being cared for following the blaze.

St Stephen's Moulton is taking in donations of essential clothes and toiletries to help the family - including teenage girls and a boy - through this tough time.

St Stephen's Church warden Cath Milnes said: "The family are being checked over at the hospital and neighbours will be putting them up tonight.

"It looks like they will need temporary accommodation, and when that happens they will need pretty much everything.

"The church is open, and at the moment we have had clothes and toiletries. We could do with real essentials like underwear and some more things for the young lad."

The fire took hold in an upstairs bedroom around 11am, with crews from Northwich, Winsford and Middlewich attending and using breathing apparatus to tackle the flames.

Crews damped down the property and surrounding area, cleared smoke with a large fan, and left the scene after around three hours.

Cath added: "It was a pretty big fire - I could see it from my house - and it has made a real mess. I feel really sorry for the family.

"We have got stuff coming in this afternoon to take to them, and I will keep the church open for a few hours this afternoon."
