SIR John Deane’s is celebrating its strongest ever A Level results, retaining its position as one of the UK’s leading sixth form colleges.
Students achieved a 99.7 per cent pass rate with a record number enjoying high grade success.
Principal Kerry Kirkwood said: “The results reflect so much of what is unique about Sir John Deane’s, extraordinary students with ambition, first class teachers and dedicated support professionals working together to create this amazing momentum.
“I am grateful for all our families who have, with us, supported and loved their daughters and sons and have shared in our joy and delight today.”
The college saw some 302 A*s achieved, with 84 per cent of students achieving a B or above.

“Maths was really tough this year so I was really worried about that. It wears off in your mind how hard the tests were. You big them up so they were so much harder than they were when you did it.”
Beatrice added: “It’s been a long slog and I’m just glad to be on this side of it now.
“I didn’t know after the exams how it had gone. Maths in particular was really difficult so I was surprised this morning.”
Harmann Bansal, Goldman Jiao, Alexander James, Samuel Flower, Alistair Westmacott, Rowen Hobson and Michael Lee all achieved four A*s.
With a long wait between the last exams in June and results day, there were different approaches to dealing with the tension.

“After my last exam I just decided to put it out of my mind”
Team GB rowing prodigy Ellie Cushen, A*A*A, added: “I have kept myself busy over the summer, and the past few days and this morning have not really felt real.
“My brother is waiting for GCSE results as well, so I am still thinking about his next week more than mine!”

Will Deeming, AAB, said: “It’s been a long wait since our last exam, which has made it a bit nervous but I’m glad the wait’s over now and I can celebrate.”
