A TAXI firm owner and former Army officer has been announced as the Brexit Party's prospective parliamentary candidate for Eddisbury.

Nick Goulding, who runs Northwich-based Club Class Travel, will contest the constituency in the next General Election.

He is expected to stand against Antoinette Sandbach, Eddisbury's incumbent Conservative MP.

Nick said: "I am proud to have been selected as the Brexit Party candidate for Eddisbury. I am a local businessman with deep roots in Cheshire. My four children have grown up here and all attended local state schools.

"We must respect the democratic vote to leave the EU. My children’s future depends on Brexit, our future depends on Brexit, and our country’s future demands Brexit.

"The Eddisbury constituency is a truly beautiful place to live and work. Quite rightly voters there support Brexit, but they are being betrayed by parliament. The Brexit Party is the only party absolutely committed to leaving the stranglehold of the European Union.

"Conservative and Labour parties have ignored the issues that matter to Eddisbury. The Brexit Party will do more than take Eddisbury out of the EU, it will deliver on services that make a real difference locally."

Nick joined the Army after graduating at Bristol University before embarking on a career in business.

He served as chief executive of the Forum of Private Business, representing more than 15,000 small businesses at Westminster and in Brussels.

Nick continued to serve in the Territorial Army, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and he was deployed to Iraq as head of media operations for the British Army in Baghdad while also covering the duties of the British Embassy press attaché.

Now 58, Nick is married to Jane and they have four children, two boys and two girls, all educated in state schools in Cheshire.
