A DAY which celebrates diversity and aims to help people with care and support needs to live independently is coming to Northwich this month.

Cheshire Independent Living Awareness Day (CILAD) will be held at Moss Farm Leisure Centre Northwich on Friday, August 23.

The event is being organised by Cheshire Centre for Independent Living (CCIL) in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council, Brio Leisure, Qwest Services, Vivo Care Choices, Healthwatch Cheshire and Active Cheshire.

Councillor Val Armstrong, cabinet member for adult social care and public health, said: “It’s great to see the event return this year as it’ll give people with care and support needs the chance to easily access information and advice for free.

“It’s fantastic to see the Council and its different companies come together to support an event like this.

“With the various activities all available in one place, those who attend the event will hopefully benefit from it.”

With exhibition stands, information and advice and accessible rugby, there is plenty on offer for everyone.

CILAD is an opportunity for people with care and support needs, as well as those who support them, to hear from care organisations across west Cheshire and find out about some of the services available.

Lynne Turnbull, CCIL Chief Executive Officer, said: “We’re all excited to be involved with this year’s CILAD.

“The event has been very successful in the past, but we want to make it bigger and better than ever this year.

“We appreciate the support we’ve received from all of the organisations who are sponsoring the event this year.”

Although it is free to attend the event, any organisations wanting to book a stall should email cilad@cheshirecil.org.
